Bodegas Vizcarra is a winery in Ribera del Duero, Spain, founded in 1991. Mr. Juan Carlos Vizcarra is the owner. He is also thewinemaker. It has 64 acres of vineyards, located in the village of Ribera del Duero by the northern Mambrilla de Castrejon and Roa. Many premium vineyards  of Ribera situated in this area. In 2004 Vizcarra launched its first vintage. Today, Mr. Vizcarra has been recognized as one of the top winemakers in Ribera del Duero region. He is a pioneer in boosting the quality of wine with low yields. His philosophy is how to make elegant wines and winemaking skills. When brewing wine, he will move the grapes produced by Mambrilla de Castrejón to a higher altitude and cooler Burgos area (located in Ribera) to brew wine. This action is aimed in making wines more than 15 years life after bottling. In winemaking process (pumping, grape presses, rollers and racks as well as conveying, aging), he attaches importance on principle of gravity. This is to avoid the use of pumps in order to obtain strong aromatic and soft tannins. He uses Malolactic Fermentation in oak barrels to optimize wines. As the result he produces elegant wines, all of which were Ribera classics.
