Winemakers Comments: Vintage 2023 was the coldest, wettest and trickiest years we’ve faced. Endless rain on the east coast over the last few years came to roost with the Murray River flooding to the second highest levels in recorded history in the Riverland. Persistent rain through Spring and early summer meant not only was harvest delayed by several weeks as fruit ripened slowly, but disease pressures were high with winemaker and grape grower nerves being put to the test. Luckily a healthy vineyard and some warm sunshine in early autumn helped the fruit develop nicely, producing a suite of pretty, more subtle wines this year
The Bianco Macerato is an easy drinking, approachable skin contact white wine. Each parcel was fermented separately – the Fiano and Chardonnay was pressed off skins straight away, while the others parcels were fermented on skins until sugar dry, up to 14 days. Each parcel was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation and settle out before being blended just prior to bottling.
Style/Palate:  The combination of fruit forward, acid driven and aromatic varieties, combined with extended skin contact, creates a wine that at once thought provoking, interesting, but also refreshing and delicious. The upfront citrus hit of pink grapefruit and briney lemon makes way for the crunchy buzz of savory. The herbaceous tannin, not overpowering, but lingering. The characteristic acid from Arinto and the textural mouthfeel of Fiano ties it all together and provides length.
Aormas:  canned lychee, orange blossom, floral and super fresh, citrus of pink grapefruit and briney lemon
