2023 A Change is Gonna Come Pinot Noir

Vineyard: Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir is one of my favorite things to make. It takes a lot of observing closely, and resisting the urge to interfere. Making Pinot Noir is a journey and wonderful fruit is so very important. Mostly thanks to Alan and Dave vineyard for growing amazing grapes in Piccadilly and Lenswood. Very limited, the amazing grapes are getting harder to get hold of!
Vintage Condition: A very cool spring, which lead into a long cool summer.  The grapes were harvested late in the ripening season but ripe and disease free.
Grape Variety:  100% pinot noir
Region: Adelaide Hill
Winemaker
s Comment: Handpicked.  Split to 2 ferments.  The Piccadilly is 100% whole bunch, and the Lenswood portion is 30% whole bunch with the balance destemmed on top.  The whole bunch portion is left in fermenter, wrapped in plastic to exclude all oxygen and left for 6 weeks before pressing to new oak.  The Lenswood fermentis gently hand plunged twice a day for 9 days then pressed to oak – 30% new. All barrels are blended to tank 3 weeks prior to ferment and then bottled.  The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulphur.
Style : Light
Aroma: raspberry, sarsaparilla, sage, capsicum, cherry, hazelnut.
Palate: Light on its feet, but also so very layered. There’s an abundance of fine tannin, it’s broody and dark whilst maintaining freshness and vibrancy.
Alcohol: 12%
