2025 Nero d’Avola - Rosato Small batch. Single vineyard. Handmade. Varietal Composition: 100% Nero d’Avola Region: Riverland Vineyard: Bassham Family Organic Vineyard, Barmera. Yeast: Wild Bottling Date: June 2025 Barrel or Stainless: Stainless Harvest: February 2025 Soil: Red sandy loam over limestone Output: 15,600 bottles Alcohol: 11% Residual Sugar: 1 g/L Winemakers Comments: A dry spring preceded and hot summer in The Riverland, which meant vintage was short, sharp and hectic! Whilst not without its challenges, the warm conditions meant that the hardy, heat tolerant Southern Italian varieties that we work with proved their worth, developing primary fruit depth whilst holding natural acidity well. After several years of cooler conditions, the 2025 wines are punchier than recent vintages, defined by bolder flavours without sacrificing thirst slaking drinkability. Wild fermented in stainless steel, Nero d’Avola is a native Sicilian variety that is perfect suited to the hot, dry climate of the Riverland. An incredibly versatile variety, while many know Nero d’Avola for the big bold reds of Sicily, with its sour cherry and naturally high acidity, we feel it is the perfect variety for Rose. After crushing, the fruit was left to soak on skins for 6 hours, giving the wine it’s the lovely blush pink color. Style/Palate: Pink color.Classic Pretty Boy, just dialed down a notch. Paler, drier, still with that beautiful boiled strawberries and cream and plush mouthfeel, but herbaceous and refreshing. Aormas: floral aroma, bright red fruit - cranberry, red currant, strawberry, with a hint of lemon zest and cream.
