2014 Mitchell Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz
Spicy, peppery and intense, our Shiraz is neither heavy nor jammy. This is a stylish and sophisticated Shiraz that embodies the concept of terroir – the vineyard's characteristic pepper tree continues to influence the flavour and structure of this delightful lighter style red.
Region: Clare Valley
Vineyard Information: Fruit for this wine is grown in our mature, dry grown vineyard that yields just one tonne per acre. No artificial fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides were used and the vineyard has had regular biodynamic sprays since 2005.
Variety: 100% Shiraz
Color : deep bright inky crimson red
Aroma: shows fragrant, ripe berry flavors lifted by dusty exotic spicy notes.
Palate: generous complex fruit flavour on the front palate, leading seamlessly through to a very dry firm tannin finish.
Alcohol %: 14% Residual Sugar: 0.3 g/L pH : 3.4
Winemaking Report: Our Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz has a component of whole bunch fermentation which gives a wonderful lifted perfume to the wine and helps with the tannin structure. The Shiraz is estate bottled after 18 months in French oak barrels.
