Production information
2017 Chianti Riserva DOCG  Uggiano

Background : Azienda Uggiano was originally founded by a group of Begamo merchants with a passion for Tuscany wines and was inspired by Giuseppe Losapio, a French wine expert.
In 1976, the vineyard was built in San Vincenzo a Torri, a village in the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by monasteries, churches and country houses.
There are more than a dozen DoCs of Vin Santo in Tuscany, but the most important are Vin Santo del Chianti, Vin Santo del Chianti Classico and Vin S. in 1997, 1995 and 1996 Anto di Montepulciano.
Vineyards : 250-300 metres above sea level. The vineyards of Azienda Uggiano extend to the slopes of Montereupo Fliorentino and San Casciano Val di Pesa. Since 1976, the cellar has been located in San Vincenzo a Torri, near the Pisa River, and is a wonderful testimony to the Tuscany past and tradition
Grape Variety : 90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo
Region Of Origin : Tuscany
Color : Ruby red color with garnet hues
Palate : it's round and full of body, with a persistent and slightly tannic aftertaste.
Aroma : Subtle bouquet with hints of sour black cherry, wild berries and violet accompanied by vanilla's nuances.
Winemaking : After crushing, grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks by selected yeasts. Fermentation's temperature is contained within 28-30°C and the must is pumped over its skins twice a day to draw coloring substances and tannins. After 10-15 days the wine is separated from the dregs to prevent solubilisations of bitter tannins.
Ageing : After 12-14 months aging in French oak barrels (Allier, Nevers and Vosges), the maturation continues in big oak casks of 30-60 HL for further 6-8 months. After bottling, the wine is refined for at least 12 months in bottle.
Alcohol : 13.5 %
Food Pairing : Savoury pastas, grilled or roasted meats, game.
Expert Comment : Shiny, rich ruby. Clearly drawn nose of medium intensity, after juicy, fresh cherries, some goji berries. Very clear and equipped with a lot of juicy fruit, builds on with well integrated tannin
