Expert Comment : The 2011 Nic has abundant balsamic aromas, notes of incense, Cuban cigars, noble woods and a core of ripe fruit without any hints of excess or over-ripeness. It does not transmit the heat of the vintage. The élevage was quite respectful with the fruit (it aged in 12 new, 500-liter French oak barrels for 26 months), and the wine even shows some restraint and elegance. The palate is medium to full-bodied with very fine tannins, superb balance, very good length and a surprising freshness for the year. While drinkable, it should also improve and develop more complexity in bottle.
